1. Definitions

"We", "us", "our", "Smoke and Lasers" refers to the equipment rental business operating this website.
"You", "the Renter", "the Customer" refers to the individual or organisation booking equipment.
"Equipment" refers to any item(s) rented through this website, including but not limited to speakers, microphones, DJ decks, lighting, smoke/haze machines, and related accessories.
"Rental Period" refers to the agreed collection/delivery and return dates and times, as confirmed by Smoke and Lasers.


2. Bookings and Payment

2.1. Bookings are confirmed once full payment has been received and a booking confirmation issued, subject to availability.
2.2. Rental prices are calculated on a 24-hour basis per day selected, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2.3. Exact collection and return times must be confirmed directly with Smoke and Lasers in advance. Times shown at checkout are indicative only until confirmed.
2.4. We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking at our discretion (e.g. if equipment becomes unavailable due to damage or loss), in which case a full refund will be issued.


3. Cancellations and Refunds

3.1. Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the rental start date are eligible for a full refund.
3.2. No cancellations or refunds will be given within 48 hours of the rental start date, regardless of reason, including change of mind, event postponement, or cancellation.
3.3. No refund will be issued for a "no-show" — failure to collect equipment or grant access for delivery at the confirmed time without prior notice.
3.4. We recommend customers consider event insurance to cover cancellations outside of our control (e.g. illness, extreme weather, venue cancellation).


4. Collection, Delivery, and Return

4.1. Free collection is available from our N15 location; delivery is available in and around London at an additional cost, to be agreed in advance.
4.2.Original valid photographic ID (drivers license/passport) and original proof of address (utility bill/bank statement, no older than 2 months old) required for collection/delivery. If you do not carry these please contact us prior to your hire.
4.3. The Renter must return (or make available for collection) equipment at the agreed time. Late returns will incur an additional charge at our standard daily rental rate for each day or part-day the equipment is retained beyond the agreed Rental Period.
4.4. At collection/delivery, the Renter must inspect the equipment and confirm it is in good working order. Any pre-existing damage must be reported immediately; otherwise, the equipment is deemed to have been provided in good condition.


5. Setup, Use, and Competent Operation

5.1. All equipment must be set up, operated, and dismantled by a suitably qualified and competent professional. It is the Renter's responsibility to ensure this.
5.2. Equipment must only be used for its intended purpose and in accordance with any instructions provided by Smoke and Lasers at the time of hire.
5.3. We accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from incorrect setup, use, or operation of equipment by the Renter or any third party.
5.4. The Renter is responsible for ensuring use of the equipment (sound levels, lighting/laser effects, smoke/haze machines) complies with applicable venue rules, licensing conditions, noise restrictions, and local regulations.


6. Damage, Loss, and Theft

6.1. The Renter is responsible for the equipment for the entire Rental Period, from collection/delivery until return is confirmed by Smoke and Lasers.
6.2. In the event of damage, misuse-related malfunction, loss, or theft, the Renter is liable for the full cost of repair or, where repair isn't possible or economical, the full replacement value, as determined by Smoke and Lasers.
6.3. The Renter must notify us as soon as reasonably possible of any damage, malfunction, loss, or theft during the Rental Period.
6.4. Where theft has occurred, we may require a valid police crime reference number.


7. Liability

7.1. Smoke and Lasers accepts no responsibility for indirect or consequential loss (e.g. loss of event enjoyment, business, or reputation) arising from equipment failure, late delivery, or other issues relating to the rental.
7.2. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
7.3. Equipment remains the property of Smoke and Lasers at all times and may not be sold, sublet, or lent to any third party by the Renter.

8. Force Majeure

8.1. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, transport disruption, illness, or equipment failure that cannot reasonably be remedied in time.

9. Governing Law

9.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
